Co-Founder & Director, Youth Programming | Pronouns: she/her
Alex Foote is a sustainability and social impact professional who leads supply chain transparency and responsible sourcing initiatives at American Eagle Outfitters. Previously, she assisted apparel clients in mitigating global supply chain risks related to labor and environmental regulations at Sourcemap, a supply chain mapping technology company. She has a background in CPG corporate sustainability (PepsiCo), manufacturing, and China’s environmental policy and history. Alex holds a Bachelor's degree from Harvard in East Asian Studies and an MSc from the London School of Economics in Environment and Development, where she focused on eco-businesses in China. Alex’s experience volunteering with a Tibetan Plateau social and environmental community organization led to her adding South Asian Studies as her minor.
At NABEA, Alex leads the Student Outreach and Engagement team to support Black students' aspirations for study, research, and exploration in Asia. This program is close to her heart since she began her China studies journey in middle school, when she attended a two-week student exchange program. Chinese language study and research paved the way for her sustainability career, and she hopes to support students on their paths as well.
