Who We Are

Our Story

NABEA (Nuh-BEE-uh) began in 2019 when Tyrell Walker convened a group of young Black professionals who recognized the unique challenges of the Black experience in Asia and the noticeable absence of Black perspectives in the U.S.-Asia dialogue.

Determined to rewrite this narrative, NABEA set out to create a united front of Black experts in Asia, forming a vibrant global community that champions and amplifies Black voices. By fostering connections among students and professionals across disciplines, the NABEA community has blossomed to over 400 members actively shaping U.S.-Asia engagement.
