Kiran Nieves-Noel

Social Media Intern | Pronouns: she/her

Kiran A. Nieves-Noel currently serves as the Social Media Intern for the National Association for Black Engagement with Asia (NABEA). She is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she earned a B.A. in International Affairs and Chinese Studies, and brings a strong foundation in U.S.–China relations, cross-cultural engagement, and public communication. Deeply committed to citizen diplomacy, Kiran approaches digital storytelling as a tool for fostering dialogue, representation, and people-to-people connection across borders.

Kiran previously served as Chair of the 5th China–America Student Conference hosted by International Student Conferences, where she led international programming, coordinated with academic and institutional partners. Through this work, she helped create spaces for sustained U.S.–China dialogue and people-to-people exchange. She now continues her involvement as a ChASC 6 Intern, supporting outreach and organizational development.

In addition, Kiran serves on the Executive Secretariat for Northwest Model United Nations (NWMUN), a nonprofit organization that hosts two collegiate conferences annually. In this role, she helps direct, plan, and supervise large-scale simulations that train students in negotiation, coalition-building, and inclusive global dialogue. Her work with NWMUN builds on her background as a dedicated Model United Nations delegate and former university MUN president, and reflects her commitment to preparing young leaders for thoughtful participation in international affairs.

As NABEA’s Social Media Intern, Kiran is grateful for the opportunity to bring these experiences into her work by strengthening NABEA’s digital presence, elevating Black perspectives in Asia-focused discourse, and translating complex global issues into accessible and engaging public narratives. An aspiring graduate student, she hopes to pursue a career in the nonprofit and think-tank sphere, and is eager to continue learning from NABEA’s network of scholars, practitioners, and community leaders.
