The National Association for Black Engagement with Asia (NABEA), in partnership with the Korea Foundation USA and Morgan State University, invited perspective students to a day dedicated to Hangeul, the Korean alphabet, and the history behind it.

The program opened with welcome remarks from the Korea Foundation, NABEA leadership, and Professor Joonwoo Moon, followed by a short lecture on how Hangeul was created and why.

NABEA members who have studied Korean before shared their own learning journeys: what worked, what didn't, and how the language has opened doors for them personally and professionally.

Morgan State students put Hangeul into practice with a Learn Hangeul Challenge and a calligraphy session, where everyone wrote out their name in Korean.

The program closed with a shared meal, that gave attendees a chance to keep the conversation going.
