This month, NABEA is bringing language and culture together for a special Juneteenth-themed Japanese language session facilitated by Nichole Mayfield and Darlene Onuorah. We'll explore the vocabulary, phrases, and cultural concepts needed to discuss Juneteenth in Japanese — covering themes of history, freedom, and Black identity in a welcoming and engaging group setting.
Whether you're a beginner or brushing up on your skills, come ready to practice, connect, and expand your Japanese in a way that's rooted in culture and community. This is the kind of conversation that only happens here. We'll see you there!
All proficiency levels are welcome, and everyone is encouraged to participate and have fun!
